Budd-Chiari syndrome

Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) is caused by obstruction of hepatic venous outflow involving either the hepatic veins or the terminal segment of the inferior vena cava.

An abnormally low level of blood oxygen.

We present a 23-year-old patient, suspected of having Budd-Chiari syndrome due to antiphospholipid syndrome, who developed severe and progressive hypoxemia, requiring prolonged mechanical ventilation.
