Endocardial fibroelastosis

Endomyocardial fibroelastosis is a cause of unexplained childhood cardiac insufficiency. It results from diffuse thickening of the endocardium leading to dilated myocardiopathy in the majority of cases and restrictive myocardiopathy in rare cases. It may occur as a primary disorder or may be secondary to another cardiac malformation, notably aortic stenosis or atresia.

Ventricular tachycardia

A tachycardia originating in the ventricles characterized by rapid heart rate (over 100 beats per minute) and broad QRS complexes (over 120 ms).

	Through this report, we would like to highlight the fact that primary endocardial fibroelastosis can masquerade as idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy and that associated frequent premature ventricular contractions and nonsustained ventricular tachycardia require close monitoring.
