Meningioma

A rare, mostly benign, primary tumor of the meninges (arachnoid cap cells), usually located in the supratentorial compartment, commonly appearing in the sixth and seventh decade of life, clinically silent in most cases or causing hyperostosis close to the tumor and resulting in focal bulging and localized pain in less than 10% of cases. Additional features may include headache, seizures, gradual personality changes (apathy and dementia), anosmia, impaired vision, exophthalmos, hearing loss, ataxia, dysmetria, hypotonia, nystagmus, and rarely spontaneous bleeding.

Arteriovenous malformation

An anomalous configuration of blood vessels that shunts arterial blood directly into veins without passing through the capillaries.

In this study, surgical procedures using the trans-CF approach were successfully performed on patients with high-positioned P2 aneurysms whose PCA ran close to the plexal point or higher, whose medial temporal arteriovenous malformations were fed mainly by the PCA, and whose tentorial hiatus meningiomas protruded into the temporal horn through the CF, with no resulting postoperative visual or memory disturbances.
