POEMS syndrome

POEMS syndrome is a paraneoplastic syndrome characterized by polyradiculoneuropathy (P), organomegaly (O), endocrinopathy (E), clonal plasma cell disorder (M), and skin changes (S). Other features include papilledema, extravascular volume overload, sclerotic bone lesions, thrombocytosis/erythrocytosis, and elevated VEGF levels.

Adrenal insufficiency

Insufficient production of steroid hormones (primarily cortisol) by the adrenal glands.

POEMS syndrome is an uncommon association of polyneuropathy, organomegaly (liver, spleen, lymph nodes), endocrinopathy (hypogonadism primary hypothyroidism, diabetes mellitus, adrenal insufficiency), monoclonal gammopathy and skin changes; bone lesions (generally osteosclerotic, less frequently osteolytic or mixed) are nearly always present in this multisystem disease.
