Tetralogy of Fallot

Tetralogy of Fallot is a congenital cardiac malformation that consists of an interventricular communication, also known as a ventricular septal defect, obstruction of the right ventricular outflow tract, override of the ventricular septum by the aortic root, and right ventricular hypertrophy.

Single ventricle

The presence of only one working lower chamber in the heart, usually with a virtual absence of the ventricular septum and usually present in conjunction with double inlet left or right ventricle.

Int J Cardiol. 2011;146(3):e63-5.
Herein, we report the experience of octreotide therapy for intractable postoperative chylothorax in two children (one was severe tetralogy of Fallot received Blalock-Taussing shunt, and the other was a single ventricle received bi-directional Glenn shunt) and review the literature on octreotide efficacy.

Obstruction of the airway by the aorta: an observation in infants with congenital heart disease.
Capitanio MA, Wolfson BJ, Faerber EN, Williams JL, Balsara RK.
AJR Am J Roentgenol. 1983;140(4):675-9.
Obstruction of the airway by a dilated aorta was observed in four infants who had complex congenital heart defects as follows: two infants had a tetralogy of Fallot and pulmonary atresia; one infant had a truncus arteriosus type 1 and small branched pulmonary arteries; and one infant had a dextroversion of the heart with a right aortic arch, single atrium, single ventricle, transposition of the great vessels, and severe subpulmonic obstruction.

The following anomalies were observed: six cases of great vessels transposition, five cases of pulmonary artery atresia, five cases of truncus, three cases of tetralogy of Fallot and six cases of single ventricle.
