Familial Mediterranean fever

Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autoinflammatory disorder characterized by recurrent short episodes of fever and serositis resulting in pain in the abdomen, chest, joints and muscles.

Peritoneal mesothelioma

A Malignant mesothelioma originating from cells of the peritoneum (the thin layer of mesothelium lining the abdomen). Peritoneal mesothelioma is the second most common form of mesothelioma after pleural mesothelioma.

Our observation clearly demonstrates the interconnection between an unusual form of profuse and relapsing ascites that occurred in the course of a periodic disease and peritoneal mesothelioma.
