Hemangioma

A hemangioma is a benign tumor characterized by blood-filled spaces lined by benign endothelial cells. A hemangioma characterized by large endothelial spaces (caverns) is called a cavernous hemangioma (in contrast to a hemangioma with small endothelial spaces, which is called capillary hemangioma).

We present the case of a patient diagnosed of an ovarian immature teratoma and hepatic lesions with typical radiological appearance of hemangiomas that decreased in size during adjuvant chemotherapy with BEP regimen (cisplatin, etoposide and bleomycin).

To date this observation has been barely reported in the literature and, to our knowledge, this is the first documented case of chemotherapy-induced response of liver hemangiomas in a patient diagnosed of an ovarian immature teratoma.
