Polycythemia vera

Polycythemia vera (PV) is an acquired myeloproliferative disorder characterized by an elevated absolute red blood cell mass caused by uncontrolled red blood cell production, frequently associated with uncontrolled white blood cell and platelet production.

Angina pectoris

Paroxysmal chest pain that occurs with exertion or stress and is related to myocardial ischemia.

In a patient with polycythemia vera and angina pectoris, we observed markedly decreased platelet aggregation response to epinephrine but increased platelet and whole-blood thromboxane A2 generation compared with normal subjects.
