Polycythemia vera

Polycythemia vera (PV) is an acquired myeloproliferative disorder characterized by an elevated absolute red blood cell mass caused by uncontrolled red blood cell production, frequently associated with uncontrolled white blood cell and platelet production.

Splanchnic vein thrombosis

The term splanchnic vein thrombosis encompasses Budd-Chiari syndrome (hepatic vein thrombosis), extrahepatic portal vein obstruction (EHPVO), and mesenteric vein thrombosis; the word splanchnic is used to refer to the visceral organs (of the abdominal cavity).
