Polycythemia vera

Polycythemia vera (PV) is an acquired myeloproliferative disorder characterized by an elevated absolute red blood cell mass caused by uncontrolled red blood cell production, frequently associated with uncontrolled white blood cell and platelet production.

Pancreas divisum

A congenital anomaly of the pancreas that results from failed fusion of the dorsal and ventral ducts during embyological development. Three variants have been described: type 1 or classical divisum in which there is total failure of fusion; type 2 in which dorsal drainage is dominant in the absence of the duct of Wirsung; and type 3 or incomplete divisum where a small communicating branch is present.
