Primary myelofibrosis

A rare myeloproliferative neoplasm characterized by stem-cell derived clonal over proliferation of mature myeloid lineages, such as erythrocytes, leukocytes, and megakaryocytes, with variable degrees of megakaryocyte atypia, associated with reticulin and/or collagen bone marrow fibrosis, osteosclerosis, ineffective erythropoiesis, angiogenesis, extramedullary hematopoiesis, and abnormal cytokine expression.

Angle closure glaucoma

A type of glaucomatous optic neuropathy in an eye that has evidence of angle closure (i.e. significant iridotrabecular contact).

A 57-year-old African American male with history of primary myelofibrosis, diagnosed by bone marrow aspirate and biopsy, believed to be in remission was referred to us for bilateral angle-closure glaucoma refractory to medical treatment and laser peripheral iridotomy.
