Myeloid sarcoma

Myeloid sarcoma is a rare solid tumor of the myelogenous cells occurring in an extramedullary site.

Pathologic fracture

A pathologic fracture occurs when a bone breaks in an area that is weakened secondary to another disease process such as tumor, infection, and certain inherited bone disorders. A pathologic fracture can occur without a degree of trauma required to cause fracture in healthy bone.

Granulocytic sarcoma is very rare in essential thrombocythemia, and this patient may be the first reported case of essential thrombocythemia that developed multiple lesions and a pathologic fracture without transformation to overt leukemia.
