Refractory anemia

Refractory cytopenias with unilineage dysplasia (RCUD) is a frequent low-risk subtype of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS; see this term) characterized by refractory cytopenias associated with dysplasia limited to one cell lineage.

Reticulocytosis

An elevation in the number of reticulocytes (immature erythrocytes) in the peripheral blood circulation.

Eight months after initial treatment, leukocytosis and reticulocytosis were observed and bone marrow aspirate showed hypercellular marrow with morphological and cytogenetic features (45, XX, -7 [16]/46, XX [4]) characteristic of MDS (refractory anemia).
