Refractory anemia

Refractory cytopenias with unilineage dysplasia (RCUD) is a frequent low-risk subtype of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS; see this term) characterized by refractory cytopenias associated with dysplasia limited to one cell lineage.

These cases, which showed leukemic change of refractory anemia with excess of blast (RAEB), developed lymph node swelling and muscle abscess; both were infiltrated mainly with plasma cells, without preceding infection.
